Asking prices collected October 22, 2026 from U.S. used-yard listings and remanufacturer catalogs. A snapshot, not a quote.

Each used bar runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile of that version's asking prices, so half its listings fall inside it, and the dot marks the median. The supplier quotes your exact part, shipping and warranty.

Which Honda Civic do you have?

Si engines are separate parts

Every Civic Si in these years used a different engine from the regular car: the K20A3, then the K20Z3, then the K24Z7, then a 205 hp version of the 1.5 turbo. Used-yard listings give the Si engine its own interchange number, so say Si when you ask.

1.5 turbo or 2.0 (2016 on)

The 10th-generation sedan and coupe came with either the 2.0 K20C2 or the 1.5 turbo L15B7. Used-yard listings split the 174 hp turbo, the 205 hp Si turbo, the hatchback turbo and the 2.0 into separate interchange numbers.

California or federal emissions

For the 2014 1.8 and the 2018 2.0, used-yard listings give California-emissions engines a different interchange number from federal ones. Your VIN and the emissions label under the hood settle it.

Hybrid, natural gas and Type R

The Civic Hybrid, the natural-gas GX and the Type R are listed separately from the gasoline engines on this page. Tell the supplier if your car is one of them.

Same family is not the same part. Engines and transmissions in one family can differ in electronics, mounts and accessories. The supplier confirms fit with your VIN before you buy.

Check before you buy a used Honda Civic

  • Match the generation. Each Civic generation used a different base engine, and used-yard listings give each one its own interchange number.
  • Match the trim. The Si, the HX and the EX each had their own engine in some years. The trim on your title or VIN tells the supplier which one.
  • Turbo or not? From 2016 the sedan and coupe came with a 2.0 or a 1.5 turbo, and the Si turbo is a separate part again.
  • California or federal emissions? Some Civic engines are split by emissions version. The label under the hood or your VIN settles it.
  • Get mileage, testing and warranty in writing. Ask for the donor car's mileage, how the engine was checked, the warranty term and the freight cost to your ZIP before you pay.

Honda Civic questions

How much does a used Honda Civic engine cost?

Used-yard asking prices for a Honda Civic typically ran $450 to $1,563 on October 22, 2026. That range runs from the lowest version's 25th percentile to the highest version's 75th percentile, across 6 versions (502 priced listings). Prices vary by version, mileage and shipping, so the supplier quotes your exact part.

Which engine is in my Honda Civic?

It depends on the generation and trim. Most 2001–2005 Civics have a 1.7 D-series, 2006–2011 cars a 1.8 R18A1, 2012–2015 cars a 1.8 R18Z1, and 2016–2021 cars either a 2.0 K20C2 or a 1.5 turbo L15B7. The Si used its own engine in every generation, so the supplier confirms it from your VIN.

Will an engine from a different Civic year fit mine?

Within a generation, often yes. On the day we checked, the 1.8 listings for a 2009 Civic came from 2006 to 2011 Civics, and the 2.0 listings for a 2018 car included 2016 to 2024 donors. Across generations the engine changes, so match by VIN.

Is the Civic Si engine the same as the regular Civic engine?

No. The Si used the K20A3, K20Z3 and K24Z7 in turn, and from 2016 a 205 hp version of the 1.5 turbo. Used-yard listings give each Si engine its own interchange number.
