Which 4R100 do you have?

With or without PTO

Super Duty 4R100s were built with and without a power take-off, and Hollander gives each its own interchange number. Match what your truck has.

F-150 Lightning 4R100

The 1999–2004 SVT Lightning used a modified 4R100, shared with the Super Duty, behind its supercharged 5.4L V8.

E4OD (the predecessor)

The 4R100 is the 1998 update of the E4OD, and many listings still use the older name. They are not interchangeable without checking, so confirm by VIN.

Same family is not the same part. Engines and transmissions in one family can differ in electronics, mounts and accessories. The supplier confirms fit with your VIN before you buy.

Check before you buy a used 4R100

  • PTO or no PTO? Super Duty units come with and without a power take-off, and they carry different part numbers. Check your truck before you order.
  • Diesel year matters. A 7.3L Power Stroke Super Duty or Excursion has a 4R100; a 6.0L diesel has the 5-speed 5R110. Your VIN settles it.
  • Which 5.4L F-150? Only the Lightning, Harley-Davidson and payload-package F-150s have the 4R100. A standard-load 5.4L F-150 has the lighter 4R70W.
  • Get mileage, testing and warranty in writing. Ask for the donor vehicle's mileage, how the transmission was checked, the warranty term and the freight cost to your ZIP before you pay.

How much does a used 4R100 transmission cost?

Used-yard asking prices for a 4R100 typically ran $500 to $3,579 on October 22, 2026. Is the 4R100 the same as the E4OD?

It is the 1998 update of the E4OD, with stronger internal parts for the more powerful Power Stroke diesels and, from 1999, a PTO provision. Ford renamed it to match its other transmissions. Quote the unit your vehicle was built with.

Which Super Duty trucks have the 4R100?

1999 on F-250 and F-350 Super Duty automatics. Diesels moved to the 5R110 with the 6.0L in the 2003 model year, and the gas 5.4L and 6.8L trucks moved to it for 2005.

Do all 4R100s fit all trucks?

No. Hollander splits them by engine, by 2WD or 4WD and by PTO, and each has its own interchange number. Give the supplier your VIN.
